Island etc (east-end Theatre Company) is a theatrical resident company in Galveston. Its aim is to provide Galveston area audiences with innovative and cutting-edge productions. A widely renowned, magnificently restored theater that has won awards for its excellence of design, and has featured a long list of legendary performers including Sara Bernhardt, Paderewski, and Anna Pavlova. The Strand Theatre is located in the heart of the Galveston Island Strand Historical District in the 1871 Oppermann building, 2317 Ships Mechanic Row. This award-winning, million-dollar restoration has created an elegant, intimate 200 seat theatre across from the historic Tremont House. All trolleys stop in front of the theatre; ample covered parking is available at the nearby Moody Parking Garage at 24th and Harborside.
